Meet the BABE team!

Amy LaMotta - BS, IBCLC, RLC

“My biggest passions in life have always been sharing knowledge and encouraging others. I want to see parents empowered and uplifted as we work together to achieve feeding goals. My desire is for families to experience more peace and joy during the challenging moments and to grow together as a family, with the confidence to embrace each new challenge and celebration.”

- Amy LaMotta, IBLCLC for BABE

Since I was 13 years old, I have always chosen jobs that give me the opportunity to work with children. First as a babysitter, then as a nanny and camp counselor. I received a degree in Early Childhood Education from Texas Tech University in 2008. My first job after college was as the assistant director and curriculum specialist of a daycare which gave me my first experience helping to care for infants on a daily basis. After marrying my long time love in 2010 and moving to North Dakota, I spent the next couple years as a first grade and preschool teacher. In 2012, we moved back to Texas and welcomed our first son. I was a stay at home parent for the next several years, working part time for our church, and welcoming another son and our first daughter.

Having breastfed three children by the time my friends just started having babies made me the “unofficial breastfeeding expert.” As feeding and post partum issues arose for friends and family, I was often the person they turned to for advice. With my own experiences not being enough to help them, I started researching complex breastfeeding and postpartum issues. I often wished I had the knowledge and experience to better care for them and this small role amongst friends and family turned into a big desire to have a career as a Lactation Consultant. I saw a deep need for encouragement and support during an especially vulnerable time as a parent.

I went back to school to becoming an IBCLC in January 2020, attending University of San Diego’s online program, and interning under the phenomenal Leah Jolly. In 2022, I welcomed another daughter and sat for my IBCLE board exams, becoming officially licensed as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant in January 2023. I continue to deepen my understanding and knowledge with specialized courses that will help me better serve families with their feeding needs.

With four children, each with their own unique feeding journeys, I know how difficult and stressful feeding challenges can be, and I feel a deep desire to bring peace and joy to families even in the struggles. Being a Lactation Consultant is one of the highest honors of my life. Working with and supporting families in a deeply vulnerable time is something I never take for granted.

“I initially set up an in-home consultation when my daughter was a few weeks old to ask a few questions and get help creating a future pumping plan. It turned out that she needed a lot of help with feeding and had multiple issues to work through, so I was so relieved to be working with such a knowledgeable, patient, and caring consultant who helped us work through many breastfeeding and bottle feeding techniques to find a solution that helped her get on track.”
